St. Augustine Music Festival announces lead sponsor

The St. Augustine Music Festival announced the lead sponsor for its 11th season earlier this month.

The Players Championship sponsorship will provide funding for the opening concert of the six-day St. Augustine Music Festival.

The June 15th concert will feature violinist Nigel Armstrong and the St. Augustine Music Festival chamber orchestra performing a program of Bach, Elgar, Stravinsky and Grieg.

The festival, the largest, free classical chamber music festival in the United States, will be June 15-17 and June 22-24 in the St. Augustine Cathedral Basilica. More than 5,000 people attend performances during the festival.

“We are proud and grateful to The Players for making the music festival part of their high-profile generosity,” said Artistic Director Jorge A. Pena. “We hope it encourages others in the community to join our family of supporters who make it possible to present world-class concerts for free here in St. Augustine.”

Admission to concerts is free, in accordance with the festival’s mission to educate, elevate and entertain through concerts open to all. The costs of presenting the performances are paid through the donations of supporters at every financial level.
